Description

This is the Eagle nebula processed in the traditional SHO pallet.  It is a crop of a larger image shot with my FSQ-85 at 450mm focal length.

The Eagle nebula is about 5700 light years away and located in the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way.  It was made famous by the Hubble telescope's famous image of "The Pillars of Creation" which are visible in the center of the image.  It is thought that new stars are being born in this region.

This is from my series shot during my recent imaging trip to Australia.  I will be adding additional data to this image in the future.  On this trip I prioritized capturing a variety of images over integration time with the intention of adding data when future opportunities arise.
