Hey everyone,
finally I can upload a new image. Germany has seen a pretty long period of cloudy/windy/stormy/rainy etc weather over the past 2.5 months. I'm really glad I could finally finish this image. I've tried to shoot the seagull for multiple years now but it is not that far over the horizon. Additionally I tried it with the Esprit before and even with the reducer the field of view was never quite fitting for such a majestically large target.
In the meantime I've been very busy. One of the cities electronics stores closed temporarily and I got lucky and scored a 3D printer for a very large discount. I've been using it to construct all kinds of accessories. This is the first image I've done with a 3D printed home made auto focuser system that uses the ZWO EAF with a belt and pulley system for auto focus. I was pleasantly surprised that it works well. The only problem is that you cannot get very far "behind" focus because of the end stop of the focuser ring so you need to be careful with the settings.
Additionally I designed and printed a "spike mask" which gives the really pretty star spikes without software emulation with the lens. I'm also please with the results. Obviously that's a matter of taste but I really enjoy the look now.
And lastly I started designing and building my first mount. Really curious if that will work out or not.
This is also the first image I publish now with the new camera as I switched over to the ASI294MM Pro. I'm enjoying the camera
It performs well and fulfills my expectations.
Shot unguided at f/3.3.
I actually did not anticipate that this image may now have some sort of additional symbolism (think peace dove). Couldn't have picked a better time to finish that one.
