Description

The Bubble Nebula is one of my all time favorites. I first got hooked on astrophotography after seeing a picture of it taken by Rob Gendler. I have short focal length pictures taken with my Takahashi FSQ 106ED, but this is the first long focal length image I have taken,

I captured the data in 2021 over 13 nights from August 7th to September 7th. I tried processing it in various ways from all RGB to all Narrowband and combinations in between. My goal was to have the bubble stand out as much as I could from the background nebula clouds. I experimented with many techniques from Adam Block tutorials including narrowband normalization, NBColorMapper, and continuum subtraction. In the end, I went "old school" and used Photoshop to screen blend the starless Narrowband data and the RGB data. The stars are from the RGB data.  I especially like the detail I was able to get in the bubble itself.  I used drizzle integration to try to improve the detail since the image would be digitally zoomed in and cropped.

From the Nasa.gov website: "An enormous bubble is being blown into space by a super-hot, massive star. The Bubble Nebula is roughly seven light-years across and is located 7,100 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia."
