NGC 7789 - Caroline's Rose Cluster

NGC 7789, Caroline's Rose Cluster in Cassiopeia. The cluster is named after it's discoverer, Caroline Herschel, and its rose-like appearance visually. It's been a while since I've done any sort of cluster which was good and bad - needed to remember how but much simpler not dealing with any nebulosity! This data has been sitting unprocessed for the better part of a year and I'm finally getting around to it. Captured from an approximately Bortle 7 backyard.

Processed in PixInsight using standard preprocessing and calibration, a significant dynamic crop due to night-to-night framing differences, DBE, and PCC. Stretching accomplished using 3 passes of Arcsinh Stretch. Version A uses a synthetic luminance pulled from the linear RGB processed with Deconvolution, stretched with Masked Stretch, and combined back with the RGB using LRGB combination. Version B skipped this step. Finished nonlinear processing using Curves Transformation for contrast and saturation.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
