Description

SH2-122 is a bit of an enigma in that it doesn't appear to contain much, or any, hydrogen alpha. I certainly gave up. SH2-122 is thought to be a reflection nebula illuminated by an embedded but unseen star and associated with the molecular cloud MBM 55, at a distance of 150 pc. I have seen very few versions of this Sharpless, and few showing much dust, so i didn't really have a lot to compare, which is both good and bad. This is my version which is -

Lum 128 x 300"
Red 39 x 180"
Green 40 x 180"
Blue 31 x 180".
All images taken between 1st and 8th August at PixelSKies.

Taken from sharplesscatalog.com - "Near the bright star Markab in Pegasus SH-122 sits in a rich area of small galaxies. This object does not pick up anything with narrowband filters including hydrogen-alpha so you standard LRGB filters work well here. A clear filter is best because it picks up the most detail but you could get reflection off Markab so if you have a wide enough field of view it is best to include the star in your image. The color filters also pick up the same amount of nebula so there is not much color variation here. The blue and red filters do have an edge over the green just a bit thus the color seen here. I suspect you will pick up more of the dust cloud, which this appears to be, using a wider field but the best part is seen here"
