Description

The old supernova remnant SNR G179.0+2.6 in the constellation Auriga is dominated by OIII emissions. They form a mixture of diffuse and filamentary structures that together form a round closed shell with a diameter of about 70 arcmin.

The Ha emission significantly less pronounced and more diffuse in the form of a horseshoe-shaped, i.e. non closed ring.

The image data was shot with four different telescopes ( 2 x TS 130/910 mm triplet apo @ 740 mm, 1 x TS CF-Apo 80 @ 480 mm, 1 x TS 80/480 mm triplet apo @ 480 mm). The image shows the 480 mm frame. The cameras were 4 ZWO ASI2600mm pro.

Because the skies here in my place were very unfriendly the last months I was very happy that @pmneo supported me with additional data from his site in Bavaria!

In total about 61 hours of data were used for the image integration:

409 x 300 s Ha
327 x 300 s OIII
