Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a Seyfert spiral galaxy located 300 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +22 degrees.  It is a magnitude 14.6 galaxy which spans 50 arc-seconds in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 75,000 light years.

I couldn’t find any details about this object.  I love the curving star stream tails.  It looks like a merger Type M4 galaxy, which are galaxies which are in the final stages of merging and have a single core with extended tails.

This object looks similar to Arp 156 and Arp 220.  The central core area has signs of faint dust bands, similar but much weaker than the above objects.

Several smaller galaxies are seen nearby but it is not clear whether these are dwarf galaxies in close proximity or if they are distant larger galaxies.
