Description

The western part of the Veil nebula and 52 Cygni, taken from the high desert outside of Taos, New Mexico. The altitude there is 2,100 meters, and the sky transparency is generally good. When I took these subs, the temperature was about 10 C and the waning crescent moon was not up, so it was a lovely night for trying to capture the Veil. This was the result of 479 subs of 30 sec at ISO 400 each over two successive nights. I was trying to take images I could make into a mosaic showing the full extent of the veil, but I ran out of time in New Mexico, so something to try for next year.
