Description

This Seyfert grand design spiral galaxy is located 70 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +10 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13 galaxy which spans 2.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 50,000 light years. The faint star stream extends out to twice that distance.

In a strange way, I love the lack of definition in the galaxy arms. I am not sure why the disk looks so blurry despite being fairly close to us.  I assume it is an older galaxy from the lack of any blue star clouds or clusters.

The very faint outer star stream makes a rough oval around the outer disk, oriented from lower left to upper right. A bright spot is seen at the 5 o’clock position, which I find odd.

This is the 2nd image of this galaxy on Astrobin.  The first image looks nothing like this one - I am not sure what to make of that.
