Description

Sh2-134, or LBN 490, is a bright emission nebula in Cepheus, just east of IC 1396, the Elephant Trunk.

This image is the first combining data from the Borg 107 and the William Optics Star 71. Both scopes have excellent optics, are equipped with great filters, and capture on the same model cameras. All the data is from 6/26/23 [capture started after midnight]. The scope duo allows more efficient use of clear sky; e.g., this is just shy of 5 hours of data.

Seeing was pretty poor, though not as bad as the previous evening when stars were few and quite weak in the PHD window and selected guide stars were lost almost immediately. This session that condition started to again play out, so I elected to use 90s unguided exposures for the first hour [2 hours of data captured]. But then things improved enough that I could guide 600s exposures; RMS was over 1.00 all this time, but as long as my SNR was pretty good...75 to 98...guiding worked.

I stacked 90s and 600s separately and then combined masters using PixelMath; my normal processing routine for Ha then followed. Before the Moon makes life unbearable [getting close] I will try to capture at least OIII, and hopefully SII for other treatments.
