Description

(I'm not going to get any more data on the Sombrero this year so I may as well make this public. Hopefully I'll get to add to it next year......)

I never even bothered with this one before when I lived much further South as it's really too small to do it justice with my rig. Without the benefit of oodles of megapixels from the newer cameras, cropping into a decent FOV without drizzling made the stars look like they were from Minecraft! From here it's pretty low in the southern murk, but an unexpectedly clear couple hours is good for experimenting with something a bit different.

I didn't have much time to play with so used only 180s luminance to build enough statistics for drizzling to have a chance.

I'm pleasantly surprised how well it came out all things considered although I had to be pretty brutal with noise reduction which hasn't done it any favours!

It was x2 drizzled and heavily cropped.
