Description

In my opinion, here is one of the most beautiful emission nebulae we have in the northern hemisphere, despite the fact that it is often ignored and little photographed. This is NGC 7822, located in the constellation of Cepheus about 3000 light years from us, which I already had the opportunity to photograph last year in a wider field with the another telescope (you can see it here: https://astrob.in/vvlm7l/0/).
This very violent and chaotic region of the deep sky is a hotbed of young stars, whose powerful radiation ionizes the surrounding gas and causes it to glow, and the energetic stellar winds sculpt the pillars of gas and dust seen emerging from the nebulosity. In particular, these pillars are the part that I really love of this nebula because they are very reminiscent of the much more famous Pillars of Creation located in the center of the Eagle nebula M16.
