Description

This is my first time attempting this target. What a beauty she is.  I suspect I’ll be visiting with her a few more times, she’s quite a challenging yet fun target to process.  Some very cool structures within the nebula. I have a new found appreciation for her. 😎

IC 1396: The Elephant’s Trunk Nebula
The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust within the much larger ionized gas region IC 1396 located in the constellation Cepheus, about 2,400 light years away.

William Optics Redcat 51 f/4.9 (250mm), ZWO 2600mm pro cooled to -10°C and Gain 100, ASIAIR, EAF, ZWO AM5, ZWO 36mm EFW, Antlia 3nm SHO filters. >30 hours of 5 min subs.  Shot from my backyard, Bortle 8.  Processed in Pixinsight.
