I have been fascinated by Astrophysics since I was a kid, but it happened that I did my PhD in the field of Solid State Physics. Now, I am developing optical instruments for Life Sciences.
I took my first astrophotos in the nineties with a hand guided Newtonian and an analog SLR camera. I still can remember spending the entire night glued to a crosshair eyepiece with little success. Other than those memories no results survived.
With all the new Hardware and Software available, I decided to restart my astrophoto journey like 2 years ago. However, I am missing the soldering and programming which was part of the game back in those days. So, I decided to mod my 23 year old EQ6 in almost every part which I enjoyed very much. Now, I've got a tuned vintage and a modern mount to play with and I don't know which one I like more.
