I hold a PhD in Astrophysics, and worked for the European Space Agency for over 30 years. Now I am retired and have returned to academic work. My main focus is on the analysis of Gaia data with emphasis on Variable Stars. In particular stellar evolution and the search for Long Period Variables in Globular Clusters, which would tell us a lot about the age of our Galaxy and its evolution.

I am fairly new to Astrophotography, which I started in January 2022. Initially I used a simple Celestron mirror telescope with a DSLR, but soon moved on to a more convenient EAA telescope, which I love. I am more interested in exploring the sky and use the telescope to excite friends and family, more than anything else. Quality imaging requires a lot of post processing and I am still learning about how to squeeze out the most details out of my observations.
