Description

This is the first time I've captured the Spaghetti Nebula (aka Simeis 147); a supernova remnant in Taurus.  I knew this object would be a challenge and require much integration time because of its faintness.  Due to its unusually large 3-degree diameter, my RedCat 71's wide field could only capture half of it!   A two-panel mosaic was clearly needed.  In addition to shooting narrowband Ha and OIII, I thought it would be worthwhile to capture RGB, to add natural star colors to the image.

I began this project at the Nightfall event in Borrego Springs California and then continued at home, after nearly a week of cloudy weather.  Seven nights and over 40 hours exposure time later, here is the resulting final image.

I hope you enjoy it.
