Description

This image was taken over two nights in early September with an ASI2600mm Pro through an Astro-Tech 80ED on an EQ6-R Pro mount using ZWO 36mm Ha, R, G, and B filters.

The image comprises:

Ha:        39 x 300s
R:           20 x 180s
G:           20 x 180s
B:           20 x 180s

Total integration time was six hours and fifteen minutes. The image was processed in Pixinsight and tweaked in Photoshop.

M29 is one of my favorite DSOs, mainly because if was the first Messier object I was able to spot through a childhood telescope. I like to come back to it every summer. While the cluster itself is small, it appears in a rich star field with lots of background nebulosity. It makes, I think, for a very interesting picture.
