Description

Messier 97, also known as the, “Owl Nebula”, and NGC 3587, is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1781.  It is estimated 8,000 years old with a distance of 2,030 light years from Earth.
