Description

This is the Globular Cluster M12 (also known as NGC 6218). Its distance is about 15,680 light years. Two galaxies in the outer extent of M12 (visually) are LEDA 110303219 and 2MASS j16470262-0202514. The distance of LEDA 1103219 is 797 million light years (by redshift estimate).  The edge-on galaxy in the upper left is UGC 10554 (Scd edge-on) - its distance is 74 million light years (by redshift) and 104 million light years (by Tulley-Fisher) These objects, information, background galaxies and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image.
