Description

My family just spent a week in the Mont Tremblant area of Quebec right on Lac Mercier. WOW what a beautiful area of the country! Blue skies, the Laurentian Mountains and clear cold lakes.

The purpose of the trip was really to reconnect with good friends. The last 2 years have made it tough to stay in touch. There was lots of hiking, cycling, swimming and of course drinking .

It was not really an astrophotography get away, so I only brought my D750 with the 24 to 120mm lens. I also slipped the intervalometer and tripod into the luggage. The skies there are Bortle 4, much better than I am used to in Burlington Ontario.

On the last night of the trip I set up the rig to take 400 photos, 10 seconds each at ISO 1600. I also left a 10 second gap between each shot. This captures about 2.2 hours of rotation.

I chose to exclude the north star and try to get star trail reflections on the water instead. The 24mm focal length would not allow both.

The shot turned out pretty well, and caps off an excellent week.
