Description

M101 is a giant spiral galaxy located in the Ursa Major constellation and is about 25 million light years away from us. It measures 170,000 light years across, which is about twice the size of our own Milky Way, and is thought to contain about 1 trillion stars.

I wanted to crop this in closer, but the image dimensions just looked odd to me, so I kept the original portrait dimensions!

Thanks for looking!

Update: Completely reprocessed in December 2022, including retaining original orientation.
