Description

About three years ago I saw an AstroBin post of Thor's Helmet Nebula (NGC2359) and thought it was one of the coolest objects I had ever seen - the contrast of cyan blue and deep reds/browns combined with the wild shape of the nebula made for an eye-catching result.

Until recently the only way I could capture this target was to go to a remote site - the target was too low to capture from my back yard due to the height of the trees and our home's roof.

We recently installed a new above ground concrete pad and iOptron permanent pier inside our "new" NexDome. The combination of the new pad, pier and hardware meant that our CEM70/Askar130PHQ astro rig is about four feet higher! Low and behold...I was able to capture Thor's Helmet from our backyard!

Clear Skies & God Bless!
