Description

1h integral RGB exposure of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) passing though the area occupied by the NGC 1647 open cluster Taurus - captured remotely using Telescope #5 (Officina Stellare Riccardi-Honders RH200 D = 200mm f/3, FLI Microline 16200) system of ChileScope over 4 imaging session carried out on Feb 13, 2023 for Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) and Feb 14, 16, 19, 2023 for the background. Quite a few small galaxies are visible in the background.

This is captured about a month before the passage of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) through Eridanus depicted under [1] and [2]:

The view to Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) on the same night of Feb 13, 2023 and two subsequent nights (Feb 14, 15, 2023) captured using Chilescope T4 instrument is published under [3]:

Two galaxies with spiral structure visible are caught in one of the ion tails of the comet in this portion of the image (200% scale crop):

Ion tail of the comet is also showing the clear forking starting from about 0.5 deg. away from the comet's head.

Many galaxies are also visible next to the comet's head and caught in the main (dust) tail.
