Description

Spanning a huge area, the Cosmic Question Mark is actually 2 nebula's, one much farther away from us than the other. The "larger" nebula that forms the main part of the question mark is SH2-171, NGC 7822 or CED 214 and is also called the Teddy Bear Nebula. It is a young star forming region about 2900 LY from earth and contains one of the hottest stars currently know, BD+66 1673 which is about 100,000 times brighter than our sun. The small punctuation point is SH2-170 and is know as the Little Rosette Nebula. It is much further away at 7500 LY and is quite dim.

This image is 4 panels taken with my SharpStar 76mm telescope and QHY294m camera. It took a total of 12 nights to gather the data and a lot of processing to put it all together. Each panel has between 11 Hrs 20 Min and 12 Hrs of integration for a total of just over 46 Hrs.
