Description

NGC3521 is a Sb galaxy located right beside the celestial equator, in the constellation of Leo. With an apparent magnitude of about 9, it is readily visible in binoculars and small telescopes, and it remains a mystery why Sir Messier overlooked this beautiful misty galaxy in his search for comets. The galaxy's signature star mist around its disc gives its name bubble galaxy, but I personally think that it looks more like Aladdin's famous Lamp.
