Description

Triangulum - M33

This is the second closes large galaxy. It is the Third largest galaxy in our local group coming in behind Andromeda and our own Milky Way. It is Classified as a Spiral galaxy and is about 2.73 million light years from earth. It is located in the constellation Triangulum. It has an approximate diameter of 61,100 light years

This is sometimes considered to be the farthest permanent entity visible without magnification. It does require you to have great eye site and access to a dark site with minimal light pollution.

It is believed due to its location in relation to the andromeda galaxy an interaction may have occurred between the galaxies around 2 to 8 billion years ago.

Total amount of exposure time on this shot is a little over 11 hours.

Hope you enjoy this picture of another local group galaxy.
