Description

In the southern part of the Cepheus constellation, about 2500 light years from our solar system, a few degrees below the star Alderamin, in the vast nebular complex IC 1396, there is the Elephant Trunk Nebula, vdB 142 (in the Van Den Bergh catalogue), a particular dark cloud that is highlighted by the HII emission zones and by the eighth magnitude stars that interrupt its dark wake.

This subject was chosen for the first light of the new Skywatcher Quattro Wide Photo 200/800. A beautiful and complicated instrument at the same time, in time I will certainly take more care of the collimation.
