Description

The brightest star in the night sky, Sirius and its white dwarf companion, Sirius B (a.k.a. the Pup Star). This image was taken on Sept. 25 with the 250 mm Lacerta PhotoNewton with the x4 TeleVue Powermate and ZWO ASI290MC camera, using lucky imaging technique. The 175 best quality frames out of the total 800 100 ms frames were used to construct this image. At the time of capture, Sirius was mere 26 degrees above the horizon. Sirius B is seen as a faint star at 2  o'clock.
