Description

Sh2-9, also called Gum 65 is combination emission and reflection nebula in the Scorpius constellation, surrounding the multiple star system Sigma Scorpii.
Although I has planned to visit a dark site for the LRGB data, Covid got in the way! (blah - back to bed soon! )
So I've imaged this one entirely from suburban Melbourne, Australia. I've used lots of short subs, to mitigate the effects of LP, which appears to have worked ok!

I was surprised by how much dust is present in this region, which doesn't seem to show up on many other images, including on my own previous attempt. So I've worked hard to balance the LUM dust with the Ha signal.
It looks very 3D!

The new NoiseXterminator plugin sure came in handy as a result, and I'd highly recommend giving it a go.
C&C welcome as always!
