Description

Saturn near its setting, Mars after its rising, and Jupiter high in the sky, near the antisolar point, where the Gegenschein glows. All three bodies are connected in this image by the zodiacal band, physically outlining the ecliptic.

With Jupiter nearly in opposition, so close to the antisolar point, and with the messed up weather just in the aftermath of Hermine tropical storm, high and low clouds, high humidity, along with noticeable airglow, I didn't expect too much of this try on the gegenschein and the zodiacal band. But after some background subtraction, at least it's noticeable even under this non-optimal circumstances, something that speaks for itself about La Palma dark skies.

South is up so the Milky Way seems to 'hold the weight' of the solar system. That, or it's just I desperately want to travel to the southern hemisphere?
