⟨⟨ IC 405 - La nébuleuse de l’étoile flamboyante - The flaming star nebula ⟩⟩

🇫🇷 On pourrait l'appeler “la virgule céleste” ou encore “le logo Nike inversé” mais l'histoire fait que le nom commun retenu de cette nébuleuse en anglais est celui de : “The flaming star nebula”. Nous avons réalisé cette image avec la team à partir de 6 setups différents placés aux 4 coins de la France. La météo a été plus clémente en ce début d’année car il nous a fallu moins d’une semaine pour accumuler 31h de pose.

La nébuleuse de l’étoile flamboyante est une nébuleuse en émission et en réflexion dans la constellation du Cocher. L’hydrogène ionisé brille en rouge et de la poussière réfléchit la lumière bleue de l’étoile AE Aurigae (au cœur de la nébuleuse), on y trouve également un peu de Oiii, d’où cette composition HOORVB. L’image aurait sans doute mérité une deuxième tuile car au-dessus du cadre, il y a la magnifique nébuleuse du têtard alias IC410, avec un gros potentiel en Oiii. Cette tuile verra peut-être le jour plus tard.

🇬🇧 You could call it "the celestial comma" or "the inverted Nike logo", but history has it that the common name retained for this nebula is: "The flaming star nebula". We produced this image with the French Amateur Collaborative Telescope team from 6 different setups placed in the 4 corners of France. The weather was better at the start of the year, as it took us less than a week to accumulate 31 hours of exposure.

The Flaming Star Nebula is an emitting and reflecting nebula in the constellation of Auriga. Ionized hydrogen glows red and dust reflects the blue light of the star AE Aurigae (at the heart of the nebula), as well as some Oiii, hence the HOORGB composition. The image probably deserved a second tile, as above the frame is the magnificent Tadpole Nebula aka IC410, with great Oiii potential. Perhaps this tile will see the light of day later.
