Description

This rarely imaged wonder is the first object in Halton Arp's Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.
Distance estimates of about 65 to 230 million light-years (with a median estimate of about 220 million light-years).
While examining the data I noticed a strange diffraction of the bright star, and thought that my secondary mirror's spider vane is beginning to twist. Upon closer look it turned out that there is a star hiding almost exactly behind the bright one the star HD 80608, or 39 Lyncis! A blue-white double star system at a distance 735 light-years.
