Description

Another Saturn; this time much closer to opposition. Best 51% of 5848 frames captured using Sharpcap the night (US Central local time) of Aug 26. Each frame taken at gain of 370, and fps of 13.3 fps. Capture area 480 x 640. My image from Aug 18 is nicer. I took several videos last night, and they all exhibited the ghost shadow under the rings and the planet. I am not sure if it was due to the Moon, or how I placed the IR filter. I see that the recommendation is to place it after the Barlow in front of the camera, which is what I did last night. However, the previous night I had it in front of the Barlow, and it appeared to have turned out better. I wonder. I managed to reduce some of this ghosting, but still there, and the processing introduced other artifacts. Oh well! Two sets of images were combined with PIPP, stacked using Autostakkert, and sharpened with Registax. Then derotated using WinJUPOS. Final processing in adobe PS and minor NR using Topaz. This is a lot of work! Enjoy!
