Description

Here is a wider view of the Total Solar Eclipse I captured using my old 135mm lens and Canon EOS R camera. This setup was automated by Eclipse Orchestrator Pro software.

Eclipse Orchestrator Pro allows you to automate your eclipse imaging session; however, it is important to know your imaging location as the program uses your GPS coordinates to properly pick the time of each exposure.

I had done some practice with the software before, but I didn’t know my observation location until three hours prior to C1. I quickly created an imaging plan for my 135mm lens, and it worked perfectly. Interestingly, the 135mm setup was the one that worked with no issues from C1 all the way till C4.

The 135mm field of view reveals outer layers of solar corona as well as some additional objects. There are more stars in the field of view. You can even spot planet Mercury, the first planet of the Solar System. What’s cool is that I also was able to reveal a newly discovered comet named SOHO-5008 that was making its way towards the Sun. In order to make this image slightly better, I have also added some data captured with my 80ED telescope.
