Description

NGC7000 and IC5070 are two very large expanses of emission nebulae in Cygnus commonly called the North America Nebula (left) and the Pelican Nebula (right).  I tried to bring out the 3 dimensional nature of these layers (some illuminated/emitting and some blocking.obscuring) of dust and nebulosity that comprises this beautiful and complex region of the night sky.

This image started as an attempt to finally try creating a complete narrowband image using the ColourMagic D1 & D2 filter set.  The weather and observing conditions this year have been less then optimal and unfortunately thwarted my plans as after managing to finally capture ~2hrs of data over TWO nights (uuggh) with the D1 filter I was granted a mere 5 mins (1 sub) using the D2 before the clouds rolled in for the second time/night/attempt of making  this capture!   Grrrrr....

The sky has not cooperated since so decided to process the data at this point and will make a future attempt to obtain the D2 data (Oiii & Si) at another time to reprocess into a full narrowband image.
