Description

First visit to a truly spectacular target; I'd never visited the more "essential" Messier objects, but once I saw a 10sec Lum sub, I figured why not see what this scope is capable of in my hands. Now, after nearly reaching a more-appropriate n=30 or 40 per channel, I'm left feeling like I should move a frame's worth northward and make a 2x1 mosaic to get the inseparable M82 within the field.

All data collected with EKOS while running INDI on a remote RPi4. Processing only with APP- light crop, background calibration, a smidgeon of saturation. Less saturation needed tells me I must have done something more right, or this target is particularly gorgeous per se. No star color calibration necessary, apparently. The core is a bit blown out- I can't decide if I should've used 150sec for the L channel, or maybe instead dropped luminance to 0 Gain. Some data- about 90min worth- was sadly lost due to corruption, but the reminder to regularly back up my local FITS repository is a welcome one. To be continued.
