Description

A well known view on Northamerica + Pelican Nebula taken with the Takahashi Epsilon 160ED combined with my OSC imaging train.

In the Pixinsight processing I separated in the linear stage luminance from color data and stars from the nebula. Then I strechted them individually and recombined them in the nonlinear stage. This gives a lot of control over brightness, contrast and saturation. Finally I used the further enhanced version of the ColorMask script to do fine adjustmens. The script allows to specify not only hue but also intensity, which enables the creation of very specific masks for bright or dimm areas of the picture.

I attach the most recent version of the script here:
ColorMaskTG.js

How to use the script in PixInsight
1. Change "Readout Data" to "HSI".

2. Use the image cursor to determine minimum and maximum hue ('H'-value) and intensity ('I'-value) of the image area you want to process. Remember the values.

3. Start the modified ColorMask script ('ColorMaskTG.js') and type in the hue and intensity range. For an unsharp mask, also specify the wavelet layers to remove.
