Started amateur astronomy in the mid 1980‘s, mainly doing visual observations, public outreach and some analog photography of sun and planets in Kassel (Germany) as a member of the AAK (Astronomischer Arbeitskreis Kassel e.V.). After a pause of 25 years I relaunched the hobby, now focusing on wide field digital astrophotography.
In between I studied nuclear physics and astronomy in Göttingen, Germany. After my postdoc in high energy physics at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg (Germany), I entered the software industry and work now as a development manager on in-memory DBMS development.
I did scientific research work in nuclear physics at MAXLAB (Lund / Sweden) and high energy physics at the B-Meson factories HERA-B @ DESY (Hamburg / Germany) and LHCb @ CERN (Geneva / Switzerland).
