Description

Conditions were pretty good for this, though there was a little wind. I probably need a new set of darks because I had some bad pixel trails that I partially compensated by using a 1.25 σ stack.

In the C revision, I decided to visit this again using StarTools 1.3. I restacked using a bad pixel map and a 1.5-sigma clip, and processed as follows: StarTools 1.3 Wipe, Develop, HDR:Core reveal, Sharpen, Deconvolute, Track, Magic:Shrink, Magic:Tighten, Life:Isolate, CS6 Astronomy Tools Star Color Enhance, AstroFrame

Date: 16 Jul 2012

Subject: NGC 7635, Bubble Nebula

Scope: AT8IN+ 0.5x Antares telereducer

Filter: none

Mount: CG-5 (Synta motors)

Guiding: Orion ST80 + 0.5x Antares telereducer + DSI Ic + PHD

Camera: DSI IIc (cooled at 2 A, 7.5 V, 8 °C)

Acquisition: Nebulosity 3.0.8

Exposure: 31 x 240 s

Stacking: Neb 3, bias included, normalize first, auto-grade, trans+rot align, 1.25 SD stack

Processing: Cyclic Keller stretch, power stretch; saturation boost, unsharp mask in N3, CS5 Astronomy Tools color blotch, deep space, & space noise reduction in one layer, unsharp mask in another, layer mask combine, new layer with AT star selection & star color enhance, desaturate; flatten it all and brighten.

For the revision:

Less exclusive in the stacking and processed much differently with liberal use of layer masks. Still a little green cast to the stars, but Hasta la Vista Green doesn't exist for the Mac!
