Description

One of my earliest images from April 2006, here is an interesting pair of galaxies. Not far from M94 lies this bright pair of galaxies. NGC 4490 is a spiral galaxy type Sc, with little visible spiral structure but pretty bright at mag 9.8. NGC 4485 is an Irregular galaxy mag 12 and clearly the two are interacting.

I took this under a fairly bright moon last week when I was exploring the area around M106. There are so many galaxies in this area - most of them are great sights visually and quite amazing when electronically imaged.

Acquired using Starlight Xpress software, combined in SX, imported to Astroart for colour balancing and some noise filtration. I find I get less noise when acquiring in SX software. 20 x 1 minute exposures. No flats - no darks.
