Description

Around the date this image was taken, Earth was passing through the plane of the comet's orbit. From this view point the comet is moving very slowly against the background stars while the dust tail is seen edge on and thin. The comet was slowly moving past the open cluster NGC 1545 in the constellation of Perseus.
