Description

Description:  The Eastern Veil Nebula, part of the Cygnus Loop, is a large supernova remnant located in the constellation Cygnus. The remnant is the result of a supernova explosion that occurred around 5,000 to 8,000 years ago. The nebula is made up of gas and dust that was expelled during the explosion, and it is lit up by the intense radiation from the remaining hot, dense core of the exploded star. The Eastern Veil Nebula is one of the brightest and most extensively studied supernova remnants, and it is visible to the naked eye under dark skies.

Comments:  I have a love-hate relationship with the Veil Nebula.  On my RASA and other wide-field rigs, the incredibly dense star field completely dominates the image.  I have tried about four different star reduction techniques but none seem to work acceptably.  But this image of the Veil was taken with the EdgeHD 9.25 reduced to 1645mm.  The tighter field of view, in combination with NB stars color-corrected with SPCC plus a sprinkle of the magic that is BlurXterminator (and some great seeing to start with) really enabled a wonderful image.  And I didn't have much integration time!
