Description

This object is a HII region located 9000 light-years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It has a diameter of 80 light years and an apparent diameter similar to that of our full moon. Star formation is actively occurring in this region, with 50 young star objects identified so far.

The bright red "right eyebrow" is LBN 592. The dark nebula of the "right eye" is LDN 1282, and the dark nebula of the "mouth" is LDN 2183. The open star cluster NGC 103 is seen in the lower right corner.

Throughout the image are numerous bright and colorful stars. It is interesting how the bright blue star at the bottom (12 Cas) has created a region of yellow-orange reflection through the combination of its blue light and the red Ha emission.
