Description

This rarely imaged object is located in the constellation of Orion at a declination of +14 degrees.   It has 3 designations as a HII region (Sh2-246), a LDN dark nebula (1563), and a LBN bright nebula (LBN 838).  It looks like a molecular cloud to me.

2 bright orange stars, which lie just outside of the frame to the right, could be the cause of the interesting orange tint in the densest head of the cloud at the bottom of the image.
