Description

A less frequently imaged nebula, mostly hydrogen with a bit of Oiii mixed in.  There is a blue shock wave in the upper left near that large star, Lambda Cephei. This star is moving at high speed, probably due to ejection from its location by a supernova. It emits intense UV light that compresses a wall of interstellar gases in front of it.

I wanted more time on this one, but I'm getting only 2 images per night now before it goes behind a tree (must get a chain saw!). Will have another go next year and see if it's got any sulphur.

I used the relatively new Generalised Hyperbolic Stretch script in PI for the first time on this one. I think it did a better job than a normal HT, particularly on my L-Pro stars.

A new filter was used for a couple of the images - the Antlia ALP-T dual 5nm narrowband. It certainly fixes the halos I get in Oiii from the L-eXtreme. When processing along with the L-eXtreme images though, the ALP-T images get a lower weighting in the NSG script as there are fewer stars than visible in the L-eXtreme - not a problem once I finish off the various images I have in progress though.
