Description

This pic was taken in 2017 from my Queens NYC balcony before I sold my 8" LX200 GPS to get a C9.25 and an EQ mount. I wanted to get into DSO imaging and I soon realized alt-az had its limitations. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that a C9.25 wasn't the best starter scope for AP   . I had to use a .63 reducer to get the whole Moon. I don't recall the number of frames used in this image.

I bought the LX200 in 2004. I wanted to see Saturn again as I had when I was a boy from my Tasco refractor from Toys-R-Us with a whopping 600x magnification lol. Needless to say the LX200 was a huge improvement, but the memory stayed with me for over 25 years. I got a decade of great views and some pictures of the planets and moon with the original Meade DSI.

When I bought the C9.25 in 2018 I also acquired a fine 70mm Williams Optics doublet that the previous owner used as a finder lol. In the end I never used the 9.25 and took my first DSO images with that little 70mm. Smartest move I ever made beginning my AP journey.  My Pleiades image was taken with that scope and was my first real DSO image.

Clear Skies!!!
