Description

Spent a lot of time on this and saw nothing in RGB, L or Ha... exposure times below.

Need to do this to complete the series.

From GalaxyMap:

Very faint and diffuse nebula. Avedisova places Sh 2-218 in star formation region SFR 159.54+11.29 along with the dark nebula LDN 1460. BFS does not give a distance estimate for this object but in their notes describe it as a "bright dark cloud".

The direction high above the galactic plane and the association with a dark nebula suggests a local dust cloud, but there are no significant references in the scientific literature to confirm this.

GENERAL NOTE ON SHARPLESS2 OBJECTS>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There are 313 Sh2 objects.  As of the date of this image I had imaged 310 (99%).

Here is the scorecard:

There are 11 too diffuse/large to image well with my set up (Sh2 111, 117, 122, 131, 132, 145, 178, 218, 230, 268 and 310).  I have imaged the first 6 of these mostly in the Nikon Wide angle shot referenced below and 178 and 230 as part of other images.  I will do the rest at least once as they come into view this year.  I missed 303 and 304 and 310 last year running out of time.  So there are 3 more to do here.

There are 5 that are never above 14 DEG (Sh2 2-6) but as of 7/12/21 I can get these now with pier upgrades and the images are completed as best as I can.

The 3 remaining all are in Expert Scheduler waiting for them to pass by.  They are all higher elevations.

The first one was taken on December 23, 2013.

Many were taken with my old Tak 180 ED, which had a wide field of view, but was replaced with my Stellarvue 130, which is more narrow field. I have also taken two very wide field HA images with my Nikon D800 and a 50mm lens.

I moved to anASA 6300M camera in September 2020.

This is my collection:

Description: 17 Best L files at 20s (calculated best exposure). New flats composite of 3 nights.

Description: Well, this was a heroic gesture and I think I learned a lot. So this is using 3 nights of dusk flats (24 total) and more night of L lights (28 of the best... 50% rejection).

All that being said, I still see nothing.

But I uploaded the 16-bit TIFF version (119 MB) in case anyone wants to have at this image. It is unprocessed, just autostretched with STF).

Description: This is now 62 L subs. I give up and am moving to the mountains. This does not have background removed in case anyone wants to take a shot. This is right out of the processor.
