Description

H2-171 is a young star forming region in the constellation of Cepheus. It's located 3,200 light years from Earth . A lot of the stars are very young, no more than a few million years old. One of these stars (BD+66 1673) is one of the hottest stars we've ever discovered. It burns at 45,000k and is roughly 100,000 times brighter than our sun.

SH2-171 doesn't get nearly as much attention as all the other summer/fall targets, and I'm not really sure why. It's a beautiful nebula and has a lot of contrast within it.
