Description

This image captures a series of reflection and dark nebulae in the constellation of Aries at a declination of +30 degrees.  This FOV is about 1 degree below NGC 1333, which I posted a few days ago.

As shown in the annotated mouseover, the dark nebula at the center of the image is LDN 1455. Numerous other dark nebulae are scattered throughout the image, including Barnard 202, 203, 204 and 206.

The blue reflection nebulae at top and bottom are vdB 13 and vdB 16 respectively.

The image actually scares me a bit.  It looks like a chupacabra fighting a bunch of evil monsters.  Commonly sighted in Texas, a chupacabra (goat-sucker) is a monster that sucks blood from livestock. Some people think it is mythical, but perhaps it just lives up there in Aries?
