Title: January

Description: Sh2-275 - CTB 21 - Caldwell 49: The Rosette Nebula is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses.

Title: February

Description: NGC 281 - IC 11 - Sh2-184 - Sh2 184 - LBN 616 - LBN 123.17-06.28: The Pacman Nebula (for its resemblance to the video game character) is a bright emission nebula and part of an H II region in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia and is part of the Milky Way's Perseus Spiral Arm. This 20×30 arc min sized nebulosity is also associated with open cluster IC 1590, several Bok globules and the multiple star, B 1. It collectively forms Sh2-184 spanning over a larger area of 40 arc min. A recent distance from radio parallaxes of water masers at 22 GHz made during 2014 is estimated it lies 9200 light-years from us.

Title: March

Description: Sh2-261 - LBN 863 - SIM 34: Lower's Nebula is found in the constellation Orion near the border of Gemini. Sh2-261 is a large faint region of predominantly ionized hydrogen. The distance of this nebula is not known with certainty, but estimated to be about 3000 light years away.

Title: April

Description: Collection of 4 Galaxies:
NGC 4565 - Caldwell 38: The Needle Galaxy is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 30 to 50 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
M31: The Andromeda Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth and the nearest large galaxy to the Milky Way. The Andromeda Galaxy has a diameter of about 220,000 light-years, making it the largest member of the Local Group in terms of extension.
M51 - NGC 5194: The Whirlpool Galaxy is an interacting grand-design spiral galaxy with a Seyfert 2 active galactic nucleus. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici, and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy. Its distance is estimated to be 31 million light-years away from Earth.
M64 - NGC 4826: The Black Eye Galaxy is a relatively isolated spiral galaxy 17 million light-years away in the mildly northern constellation of Coma Berenices. A dark band of absorbing dust partially in front of its bright nucleus gave rise to its nicknames of the "Black Eye", "Evil Eye", or "Sleeping Beauty" galaxy.

Title: May

Description: M16: The Eagle Nebula is a young open cluster of stars in the constellation Serpens. The "Eagle" refers to visual impressions of the dark silhouette near the center of the nebula, an area made famous as the "Pillars of Creation" imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope. The nebula contains several active star-forming gas and dust regions. The Eagle Nebula lies in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way.

Title: June

Description: Simeis 57 (DWB111/DWB119): The Propeller Nebula is an emission nebula in the Cygnus constellation. The distance from Earth is unknown but it is only a small part of a larger emission nebula.

Title: July

Description: NGC 6992 (Network Nebula) and NGC 6995 - Caldwell 33 - IC 1340: The Eastern Veil is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust in the constellation Cygnus and part of the Veil Nebula. It constitutes the visible portions of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant. The source supernova was a star 20 times more massive than the Sun which exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago.

Title: August

Description: M8: The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius. It is classified as an emission nebula and as an H II region.
M20: The Trifid Nebula is an H II region in the north-west of Sagittarius in a star-forming region in the Milky Way's Scutum-Centaurus Arm.

Title: September

Description: IC 5146 - Caldwell 19 - Sh2-125: The Cocoon Nebula is a reflection/emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The cluster is about 4,000 light-years away, and the central star that lights it formed about 100,000 years ago.

Title: October

Description: Westerhout 5 - Sh2-199 - LBN 667 - Cluster is IC 1848: The Soul Nebula is an emission nebula located in Cassiopeia. Several small open clusters are embedded in the nebula.

Title: November

Description: NGC 7023 - LBN487 - Caldwell 4 - Cr 429: The Iris Nebula is a bright reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It lies 1,300 light-years away and is six light-years across.

Title: December

Description: CTB1 - LBN 576 - Abell 85 - SNR G116.9+00.1: is a nearby supernova remnant with an apparent diameter of about a half a degree (about the same size as a Full Moon). The deep red color of the SNR comes from light emitted by energized Hydrogen (Ha), but CTB1 also has an area shining in blue/green light from energized Oxygen (OIII) atoms.
